There are many ways to Deadlift, The Powerlifting ways, The Olympic Lifting ways, etc.  
If you want to improve your Cleans, why not forego doing the mixed grip and and attempting monster weight for the moment.  Instead put in the hook grip, get the shoulder directly over the bar, in a Clean-style Deadlift.  You will still be able to pull heavy weight and the skill will transfer over better to your Clean and Jerks

Strength:  Deadlift  5-5-5-3-3-3

WOD:  21-15-9:
- Front Squat @ 40% 1RM
- Pull Ups
